Gautam Gambhir Slams Virat Kohli For Excess Sledging During 3rd Test Between Ind-SA at Cape Town

Cape Town: Following Virat Kohli’s misconduct during the third day of the third and final Test, ex-India cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir came down hard at India captain. Calling his act ‘immature’, Gambhir said by doing such things one can never be an idol for youngsters.

Gambhir while speaking on Star Sports said: “Kohli is very immature. Its worst for an Indian captain to say like this in stumps. By doing this you will never be an idol to youngsters. In first innings when you got a 50-50 call on caught behind then you were silent and in Mayank appeal too.”

With the series and history on the line, the Indian captain got frustrated when a DRS call went against them of Dean Elgar – which looked out with the naked eye. The umpire had at first raised his finger as it looked out, but then – Elgar opted for the review realising he would be a key player in the chase. The replays showed that the ball was sailing over the stumps by inches.

Following that episode, Kohli got chirpy and at times – he went overboard with it. Kohli’s misconduct has ensured he faces backlash on social media.

Meanwhile, the Elgar wicket at the stroke of stumps on Day three has given renewed hipe to India. They still need eight wickets and know they have a mountain to climb.

Bumrah, Shami, and the rest would have the responsibility of getting early wickets on Day 4 to keep up the hopes of a historic win. SA still needs 111 runs to win.
